A tailor-made year oriented towards your professional project ! The great originality of the general engineering program at ECAM Rennes is its multidisciplinary character, with no pre-determined specialization requirements. This is a real asset to progressing step by step towards a professional project based on one’s experiences and life choices. At the end of Year 2, the school’s engineering students benefit from a wide range of options that allow them to complete a generalist education enhanced by specific skills in their preferred field.
The first semester of the final year is devoted to a personalized, “à la carte” program which can take several forms: joining a partner dual-degree program, attending a foreign university, etc.
Students spend the last semester in a company for their 6-month engineering internship in France or abroad. The final year (ECAM5) offers the opportunity for engineering students to bring significant added value in terms of employment, salary and career profile through the various options on offer. These experiences generate open-mindedness, autonomy, creativity, adaptability, etc.
The double degree option allows you to obtain both the engineering degree from ECAM Rennes and a Masters degree from one of our partner institutions. The study cycle is extended from 6 to 12 months compared to the standard curriculum. The double degree is carried out within the framework of an inter-institutional agreement and the course selection is limited to maximize specific orientation in the partner school’s domain. Candidate selection is carried out initially at ECAM Rennes and then by the host university. Some double diplomas have prerequisites such as the Tage Mage or a required level of English validated by the TOEIC or TOEFL exam.
Students can choose to follow a semester of study in one of the partner foreign universities for the validation of one semester or a full year for the acquisition of the double diploma.
The school’s International Department is working to develop privileged partnerships that open up a wide range of specializations complementary to the General Engineering degree: Industrial Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanics, Marketing, Management, etc. The 22 establishments with which the school has signed a collaboration agreement have all been chosen for the quality of the teaching provided and the appropriateness of the programs offered with the needs of the students, the expectations of companies in terms of training and the school’s pedagogy.
Thanks to the IALU (International Association of Lasallian Universities) network, the school offers the opportunity for students in their final year to go to more than 70 institutions for a year or a semester of study in foreign universities.
The school ensures that there are no additional tuition fees for these agreements. They may nevertheless, according to each student’s own criteria, give rise to Erasmus+ scholarships for partial coverage, if necessary, of the cost of stay. Aid distributed by the Brittany Region (Ulysses grants) and the CROUS can also facilitate mobility in Europe or around the world.
The professionalization contract allows students to complete their final year of engineering studies in a work-study program between school and company with employee status. From then on, tuition fees are paid by the company and the student engineer is paid.
Each year, some students choose to follow a Research Masters degree. The engineering internship is then replaced by an internship in a laboratory and the courses at the school are customized according to the field of application of the project on which the student is working. This double degree allows, as its name suggests, to obtain the general engineering degree from ECAM Rennes and a Masters degree from the partner institution.
In the final year, students can choose to attend a semester at another school of the ECAM network:
